First Gym Session Back with Team Lewis

During the winter we train each Monday at Newport Velodrome centre. Another session I have been looking forward to. Even more so this week as Coach Stu has asked if Neil and I will take the girls for the 2nd half of the session. Neil and I, mostly Neil as he is a qualified personal trainer have devised an all over circuit type workout aimed at the sprint group.

We decide on 10 exercises 30 sec reps with 30 sec rest and an opportunity to demonstrate each exercise. It turns out there is a bit of crossover with Coach Stu's half of the session so we may tweak for next week. We do 3 lots of this with walk/jog in between each set. We are conscious that we don't want to over cook it for the week's training but the feedback from the girls is good so we will see how well this works going forward.

The first half of the session is fun to get back to with a one lap warm up, drills a short circuit and some plyometrics thrown in for good measure. We all enjoy jumping and hopping up the stairs....

By the end of the week there seems to have been no adverse reaction to the circuits we put together so I will aim to do these the following week with no increase in volume or repetition its all about quality not quantity.
