Track and Field

Newport Harriers compete in a number of leagues throughout the season.  Your membership fees cover the cost of competing in these leagues (details below).  In addition there are championship events for which there is an additional feee and athletes have to enter themselves for these events:

Welsh Junior League Under 11 (School Years 4 & 5, over 9 on the day of competition), Under 13 (School Years 6 & 7) Under  15 (School Years 8 & 9).

Youth Development League - Lower Age Group - Under 13 (School Years 6 & 7), Under 15 (School Years 8 & 9).

Youth Development League - Upper Age Group - Under 17 (School Years 10 & 11 and Under 20 - under 20 in the year of competition).

Midland League (Senior competition open to under 17s - school years 10 and 11 and under 20s - under 20 in the year of competition.  Note senior throwing implements and hurdle heights and distances).

The Welsh Senior League will be a virtual league with scores based on the Welsh Sprints and Endurance Meetings and the Carmarthen Throws Meetings.

Cardiff Throws have qualification standards and entry limits (Male: Discus 32.00; Hammer 33.50; Javelin 35:00;  Shot 9:50. Female Discus28:50; Hammer 31:00;  Javelin 29:00; Shot 9:00)
