Sunday 10th March, NIAC
Well, that was a long day.Spent 11 hours in NIAC at the annual Vault Cardiff.Approximately 140 turned up from all over Britain and Newport.Yep !
Newport. We had 3 girls appearing for the first time at this event.
Ellie Mae(who as you know was mine, but has now crossed over to the dark side with Ed Thompson) put in a solid performance and got yet another PB at 3.03.
Then the complete novices. Nia Rees Stams in her first ever comp and as an U/15,and suffering with a huge lack of confidence, not only jumped 2.13 but also won her pool of 10 athletes. Wonder what she could do with confidence.
Then, last but not least, Aaliyah Beavon. WHO ! Aaliyah Beavon.A n under 11 who stole the show. And the only U/11 I the entire competition. She actually beat 4 U/13s and an U/15 when clearing an amazing 1m63. She also managed to empty my wallet in the process. The 1m63 was gained by being so brave and fearless. She was an absolute joy to watch.
