Eric Atkins

A small number of our older members will recall Eric Atkins. Eric was a regular fixture in the 1970s through to the 1990s and a member of Phil Bolwell's taining group. Eric was an enthusiastic member of the club and as well as enjoying road running he was a regular marshall at road races the club organised. Sadly Eric passed away recently.

I was saddened to hear the news from Maria David of the passing of her father in law former Newport Harrier "Big Eric" Eric Atkin who I trained with in the 70s and 80s. Latterly, he cared for his wife (she had dementia) His release and enjoyment, was @parkrun He might only manage 3K or 4K - but for a man of his age that was cool; he loved it and the tail runners loved him. R.I.P Big Eric
