29th September, Tredegar House Parkrun
Like Juan Manuel Fangio in Formula 1 in the 1950s, or Billie-Jean King at Wimbledon in the 1960s, both Remi Adebiyi and Ellie Robinson made it three titles in a row at today’s 5k Club Championships.
As they entered the last kilometre Remi, Jackson Mountford and Spencer Smith were locked in a 3-way battle. Remi and Jackson emerged together from the wooded section and Remi out-kicked his opponent down the long home straight. Top master was marathon-ace Kevin Seville.
Ellie Robinson had the company of Elin Griffiths for practically the whole race. Ellie’s strength at the end proved just too much for her younger opponent. Top Master was Helen Wilcox.
Lots of Parkrun PBs. Good to see former club captain and 70s icon Trefor Beese still out there running. As male and female champions, Remi and Ellie will of course have to lead the first dance at the Christmas Ball.
