21st September, Tredegar House Parkrun
Our annual 5K championships produced a healthy dose of club rivalry over the 2-lap course run under a sparkling early morning autumn sun.
In the men’s race Remi Adebiyi made it 4 wins in succession. Remi opened a 4-second gap over Craig Williams around a third of the way. This lead never extended but never closed, with Remi capping victory with a PB over the Tredegar House course. Jake Seville completed the men’s podium in 3rd place.
Down in 12th place was Gareth Jones. Gareth was club 5K champion back in 1974. This was the era of David Bedford and Brendan Foster and Gareth never made it into the British team.
In the women’s race 1st and 2nd from last year’s race swapped positions with Elin Griffiths taking her first club title ahead of Ellie Robinson who was the winner from the previous three championships. Elin set a PB over the Tredegar House course. Ceri Griffiths came in 3rd.
